Searching for a satisfying Chinese food experience in Portland? Look no further than Shandong. This restaurant offers a decent culinary journey through Chinese flavors that won't disappoint. Upon stepping into Shandong, you're greeted with the enticing aroma of hot and fresh dishes, promising a delightful dining experience. One standout dish that captured my taste buds was the soup dumplings. These little pillows of joy are bursting with flavor, delivering a delightful explosion with each bite. It's no wonder they quickly became my favorite. While I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit Shandong, if you happen to find yourself in the area, it's definitely worth checking out. The food is served up quickly, allowing you to satisfy your cravings without a long wait. Plus, the overall experience is a solid option for those seeking a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine in Portland.

There are some real winners on this menu combine traditional and American styles Chinese food. The dry fry wings are incredible! Other highlights for us are the Shandong Beef and dumplings. The dumplings were so good we ate them before we could take a picture. Service is quick, plenty of beers available. This is a repeat visit spot for us. It's clean and cozy inside, can get a bit packed if they have a rush but that's fine.

I love this little place. While I've had mixed experiences dinning in, their food is always a hit for me. It's advertised as Northern Chinese, so check the menu first and don't expect typical American Chinese dishes. My usual order is the hot and sour soup ($12, though I swear it's $10 at lunch, don't quote me on that), and it's the best I've ever had. Full of whole prawns, big (baking soda for tenderness?) pieces of chicken, mushrooms (two kinds), and tofu. It's peppery, sour and reheats well. And for that price, 32 oz. Enough for two meals, or one big soup day. If you're looking for something a bit different, this is a good option. Parking can be a bit tricky, as I believe the "lot" is for another business or for the community center. Will add some pics on my next trip!
